Based on the popular Columbian television drama "Yo Soy Betty, La Fea", "Ugly Betty" is one excellent rendition of an existing show.
Betty is the story of a recent grad's rise at a high-end fashion magazine, and the trials of such a high maintenance world.
Betty attempts to land an assistant job at Mode, a fake magazine cut from the cloth of Vogue and Cosmo, her competition is a six-foot tall model and she doesn’t stand a chance.
Lucky for Betty the editor-in-chief has a thing for women and when his father, the owner of Mode fires the model and hires Betty, it’s because he doesn’t think his son will be tempted by Betty.
You are cheering for Betty in every sense of the word as she is surrounded by evil people who have disdain for her because she has no style, amouth full of braces and lives in low-incoming housing.
The show is produced by the very stylish Salma Hayek, who makes a hilarious cameo in the “Pilot” episode as a television soap drama queen.
