Big Brother winner and object of Jade Goody’s on-screen ire, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty said she was desperate to put the “Celebrity Big Brother” racial fracas behind her as she met Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II at a Commonwealth Day event on Monday in London.
Shetty, 31, delivered a speech touching on racism and AIDS at a Westminster Abbey event marking Commonwealth Day, reports RTE online.
Shetty was subjected to verbal abuse from English contestants, which inflamed viewers and caused protests in India with its enormous worldwide media coverage.
Shetty followed her speech by meeting the Queen.
Shetty, according to RTE, was “pleased that no police charges were brought against the other Big Brother housemates.”
“I just want to say it was a reality show. Too much was made of it,” she said.Note the date on this article may be incorrect due to importing it from our old system.
