Jun 10, 2010, 13:45 GMT
Seoul - South Korean ground control lost communication Thursday with the country's Naro-1 space rocket shortly after a successful liftoff, media reports said.
The rocket blasted off at 5:01 pm (0801 GMT) from Naro Space Center, on South Korea's southern coast, the Yonhap news agency said. The rocket was carrying a scientific satellite into orbit.
Contact was lost eight minutes after liftoff, the Korea Aerospace Research Institute said.
