The loss of Arctic sea ice in summer could greatly increase positive feedback in that area and have major implications for weather patterns and global warming.
Another great cuse for concern is that the warming waters of the Arctic are causing large amounts of methane to be released from the seabed and permafrost regions, methane is 20 times more efficient as a greenhouse gas than Co2 and is thought to have triggered rapid temperature rises in the past.
