I keep trying to understand this article, and, by golly, I won't give up!
You are a better man than I, Gungadin!
...the favorite color gene? The I-like-porn gene? How about the attracted-to-naked-boody gene? My favorite, the drunken dickhead gene. Golly, pretty soon, they're going to have a gene for evrything. Is it just me, or does something smell here?
You know, I think I'll just f--king give up on this one!
The difference between perservering and just being stubborn is that perservering denotes succeeding, while stubbornness is like shooting oneself in the foot and then reloading the gun to shoot the other foot. If a person lacks discernment, the 'stubborn gene' might as well be called the 'fool gene.' The difference between stubbornness and perserverence is that the former is self-destructive because it involves failing to recognize that one messed up, while the latter is the key to success because it is directed to a productive pursuit.
