The article is poorly wordedJun 30th, 2006 - 16:04:04

The first paragraph states that India will be 'launching its first sattelite on an indiginous launch vehcile' - something it has been doing for 26 years.

What the article probably meant was that India has replaced the Russian made cyrogenic state in its GSLV Mark I rocket with an entirely Indian design.

Thus the rather inconsiquential news is only that this will be the first time India has launched a geo-stationary sattelite from a launch vehicle that is entirly Indian - hardly a big deal considering India could have developed an indiginous cryogenic stage years ago.

Very disappointing quality.

Did you not read the part about the satellites being launched 'on its own soil'? Till now, the launchers were carted to france where they were fired into the sky. This is actually a big deal, and a huge step forward.

rsd, you are completely wrong! India has been sending satellites from its own soil for past several years. Indeed the first paragraph is poorly worded. It has been taken from Times of India, word by word!
