Ancient tombs to be renovated in southern Egypt

Cairo - Ancient tombs in the Valley of Queens on the west bank of Luxor, 700 kilometres south of Cairo, are set to be renovated by a team of Egyptian and US experts, an Egyptian antiquities official said Tuesday. Head of the Supreme Antiquities Council Zahi Hawas said that the council would coordinate with the US-based Getty Conservation Institute to renovate sites in the valley over a six-year period. Getty Conservation Institute director Deborah Marrow said that the US team has been working on the restoration of Egyptian heritage since 1985. Marrow said that the joint project would see a combined team document and assess 80 tombs using maps and photos. In addition, the team would also provide geographical and environmental information on the site and evaluate any potential dangers to the valley, she said. In addition, the US-based centre is also to upgrade storage conditions for royal mummies stored at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and to undertake the surveillance of the Sphinx in Giza. The centre will also take on the mission of restoring the tomb of Tut Ankh Amoun and in the process, train Egyptians on restoring Pharonic carvings on the graves. The Valley of Queens is one of the most prominent monuments in an area that was the site of Egypt's ancient southern capital Thebes. I think that they are all lost there minds they no just as well as i no that they made all this up and that it is very interesting though but they need to quit making thins up and show proof that its real so us as students can learn something and
