Does anyone know what effect all that atmospheric nuclear teating we did in the 50's and 60's had on nature? Where are these studies?

As for global warming, it is still too cold. As for nuclear testing, it would have made it colder, not as much as volcanoes.

I think the headline should have been: 'Global Warming No Different Than 9th Centuary!' Obviously the earth goes through warming and cooling cycles. This period of warming will probably be followed by global cooling, as has happened in the past.

Well, measures to stop global warming will help if ther is a problem. But I don't think we're in danger of being drowned by rising oceans YET.

People are idiots. the evidence of a terrible change is right before their eyes and they make any excuse to avoid dealing with it. it is almost incomprehensible. we deserve what is coming.

Hey, lighten up all you doom sayers. I am buying beach front property in Greenland and farmland in the Yukon territory. The Vikings had it right to begin with, just a little ahead of their time.

What would be of greater importance would be the Question: At what rate are we warming as compared to the previous warming period? Are we were warming any faster or are we comparable?

Those of you old enough will remember the very same types of people were saying the next ice age is coming in the 70s.

The important question is, are you too hot or are you too cold. Deserts are the hottest places on earth and become paradises with water. The coldest places are dead and have plenty of water.

it's obvious that there is climat change . Anyone who says other wise is not looking at the facts . i live in winnipeg ( canada) and in the winter here its normally -25 degrees celsius and begins to snow is late oct. this year however it did not begin to snow till dec. and when it did start to snow it was warm outside for ex -5 degrees and it remained a warm temp. till mid jan. when it began cooler -15 degrees which is still warm for winnipeg . The red river has not stayed frozen during this time . maybe that doesn't sounds strange to u but i've lived here for 16 years and i know when something in the climat has changed and there is no better example then this. again why do u think there has been so many weather conditions in the states? from the new orleans disater, the tsunami, hurricanes? some one above was saying that that its normal for the weather to heat up and cool off ... yes but to what extent?my cousin who lives in chiliwack (canada, bc) said it was raining for over 2 weeks straight .if the ice in that artic and the ice abvoe mountains starts to melt because of the rising temperture it will create a flood (and just like everything that goes up must come down ) the temp. will get colder and freeze the water that has flooded the surrounding and once again create a ice age

it is normal for temp. to change but not this dramtically . change is not always good . i think we need to get our act to get and begin thinking of way to make it work because we can all make a difference the only thing is some has to start. its easy to say u needto change but will u?

what are the causes of warm and ice ages?are they space related? In that case what the ..are we looking at?Just staying cool and relaxed may balance the heat around us.

polar bear are being considered on the indangered species list because their habitat is melting

If weather is to blame on the polar bear extinction, then what good is putting on the endangered species list? That does no protect them from global warming.

Polar bears adapted to cold weather and became white. If warming is so bad for bears, why do they hibernate in the winter?

The level of assumption that need to be made to come to any conclusion is astronomical. This is what passes for science today. We already 'KNOW' the solution so lets' go out and find somehting (anything) we can use to support our already defined conclusion. And the sheeple continue to bleet!

Not2Hot has it right on the money. The earth goes through cycles. Anyone living during these cycles thinks its most extreme its ever been when in fact there pobably have been even hotter and cooler cycles over the past thousands of years. The wackos always come out of the woodwork during these types of times.

Debating the presence or absence of global warming evades the question: What should we do if there IS global warming? Moreover, what solutions will get somewhere? Did too did not arguments that offer nothing for the biggest offenders (Western Europe and the US) will end in failure, whether global warming exists or not. Anything else is just... hot air. And isn't that what we are trying to prevent?

My first point was missed --- It was this hot in the 9th century! What caused 'global warming' then? It certainly wasn't fossil fuels, automobiles, evil USA industrial polluters, cow flatulence, ozone depleting aerosol propellants and I could go on.

You all seem so confident of your opinions and your stances. Do any of you read literature that opposes your views. If you believe global warming exists, then read journal articles with studies that have found evidence to the contrary. If you believe global warming is not happening, then read journal articles of studies that have found evidence that supports global warming. In either of these cases you have to have an open mind and a critical mind. You must be open to the truth, whatever it may be, and you must be critical of how the data was collected and analysed and interperated. Check confidence intervals, check significance levels in the statistics. For goodness sake make sure the sources you believe so firmly in report statistics that make sense. Anyone can bend facts and distort their findings to say what they want them to; that's why we must be critical and use our own minds to decide if the conclusions are worthwhile.

The medieval warming period was warmer than now, based on the fact that remains of farmsteads of that time are found at latitudes and altitudes where farming is no longer possible (or _still_ no longer possible, for the very stupid, who have very poor comprehension). Climate change was natural then, just as it is natural now, and nothing we do has anything to do with it. Claiming that CO2 or some other magic bean gas has been making it warm, only to be shown that there's a natural climate cycle, doesn't make the fallback position, that gases make it worse. But idiots will persist in making those types of claims.
