Space shuttle Endeavour (R) the rescue shuttle for the space shuttle Atlantis (L), STS-125 mission sit on launch pad 39-B and 30-A at Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA, 19 September 2008. This is the first time since 1990 that NASA has had both shuttles on the launch pad at the same time. The Rotating Service Structure (RSS) for shuttle Atlantis (L) will be rotated on 20 September 2008 giving a full view of both Shuttles. Shuttle Atlantis is on an eleven day mission to make repairs to the Hubble Space Telescope where the STS-125 crew of seven astronauts will install two new instruments in Hubble, as well as replace the Fine Guidance Sensor. Five back to back spacewalks will be conducted during the flight. The shuttle Endeavour will be poised ready on the launch pad to pick up the crew of Atlantis in the event that there is damage to shuttle Atlantis during the mission and unable to return to earth.
