Reebok has hitched is sagging wagon to hot New York girl, Scarlett Johansson.
Woody Allen’s Scoop star Scarlett Johansson is working with the company on a new clothing and footwear line that hits high-end department stores and boutiques next spring.
The Scarlett (Hearts) Rbk collection of athletic-inspired pieces such as hoodies, T-shirts and track jackets will draw retro influences from the ’70s and ’80s. “Scarlett loves that timeframe, and it’s very relevant to Reebok because some of our first shoes were introduced then” said Amy Schaeffer, Reebok’s vice president of lifestyle design.
Johansson, 21, has become a fashion icon during a film career that’s included Match Point and Lost in Translation.
Johansson has been “hands on” in creating the Rbk collection from the initial concept, Schaeffer said. She’s had several product and design meetings with Reebok.
In a Women’s Wear Daily interview, Johansson said she’s “definitely not athletic in any way,” but likes to do yoga and “stretch out.”
“I like the idea of exercise and aerobics being glamorous: Olivia Newton-John and women exercising in false eyelashes,” Johansson told WWD. “I am basically designing clothing for my friends, and a lot of my friends are also regular girls with lovely curves and feminine figures.”
