Sarah Palin family drama continues: Bristol’s future mother-in-law arrested

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin may be the darling of the conservative Republicans, but her actual family life seems more fit for the fodder of soap operas.

The latest scandal to hit the comely moose killing, long-distance running politician is that daughter Bristol’s future mother-in-law was arrested for drugs.

Sherry L. Johnston, 42, was arrested by Alaska state troopers in Anchorage on Thursday and charged with six felony drug counts.

Bristol, now 18, is expecting a child with Sherry Johnston’s 18-year-old son, Levi Johnston.  The unmarried daughter was 17 when the pregnancy was discovered. The couple plan to marry in the summer according to several news reports.

Cops say Sherry was arrested after an undercover investigation. They refused to specify the type or amount of drugs involved. She was released on $5,000 bail.

In a statement, Sarah Palin’s rep tells the Anchorage Daily News that since “this is not a state government matter,” Palin will not comment.
