Rapper Method Man busted for pot in New York

Rapper Method Man was busted in New York on Thursday (May 17) for about 30 grams of marijuana that was discovered in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

The rapper (whose real name is Clifford Smith) was pulled over by police at about 10 p.m. as he entered the Battery Tunnel in Brooklyn. He was stopped for expired tags on his 2005 Lincoln Navigator, and the police officer stated he noticed a strong smell of pot coming from the vehicle when Method Man rolled down his window to discuss the stop. The arresting officer has also stated he saw two “blunts” and a bag with more marijuana in plain sight.

When questioned, Method Man also admitted to having more marijuana underneath the driver’s seat. He was officially charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, criminal possession of marijuana, operating a motor vehicle under the influence and driving an uninspected motor vehicle.

Method Man was released from jail on his own recognizance on Sunday morning. The Rapper has had a long career as a hip-hop star and member of the Wu-Tang Clan. He has also branched out into acting – such as the 2001 film How High (which is about pot).
