Pretty in Pink: Spring 2013 lips a range of looks

Lips and eyes are clearly the most noticeable features on a face. With lips, you have the range to go from vamp to demure, trendy to classic and matte to glossy. The sky is the limit, and this coming spring sees a wide offering of looks that will have something for everyone.

The act of putting on lipstick is a divine female right, a sensual exercise that makes us all feel more put together, more attractive and vibrant. Like shoes, your lipstick and gloss wardrobe can always be added to, regardless of need. Shopping for a lipcolor is an act of therapy for many of us.

The best in the new pinks include the following from Laura Mercier, Anastasia Beverly Hills and Gleam by Melanie Mills. These looks go from matte velvet finish to a glossy pout.

All of the three lines were tested and worn, sifted from an avalanche of new colors sent in for us to review. These colors we found are the best wearing, most flattering and fit our criteria for being cruelty and paraben free. They are all made in the USA.

Anastasia Beverly Hills HydraFull Lipgloss

A clinically tested, long-wearing lip gloss features “Kiss Me Quick” plant extract that helps to increase volume and fullness in lips, Brown Algae, a key ingredient that smoothes, firms, hydrates, and revitalizes the appearance of skin, and Balkan Botanical®Infusion—Anastasia’s exclusive antioxidant-rich complex that helps soften, soothe and hydrate skin.

The paraben free gloss also comes with a clear, flexible silicone paddle applicator that follows the contours of your lips, ensuring smooth and even coverage.  I love this applicator because it precisely carves the color on the mouth, and keeps you from overdoing it with the product. It takes a second to figure it out, but once you do, you’ll wish they all had paddles.

Best spring 2013 colors: Sugar Pink, Barely and Heiress.

Sugar Pink

Sugar Pink

Heiress is the perfect neon red/pink shock that is the most vivid of the three, the others are neutral pinks, one, Sugar Pink, has more of a true pink color, and Barely is the perfect nude pink that is a staple color to live in.

Barely

Bonus features: After 10 minutes of use, 90% reported lips are hydrated. After one week, 87% reported the lip gloss provides long-lasting moisture. After four weeks, 83% saw improvement in the texture of lips and again 90% reported lips are hydrated.

This is a newcomer to an existing line that created my favorite concealer, the Secret Camouflage Creme duo that is a must own too.  This new luxurious crème formula envelops lips in a cushiony, lightweight texture that feels comfortable and helps to nourish the lips

We selected 60’s Pink and Girly as our two favorites for a nude neutral matte velvet finish for spring. Girly is a mauve pink, incredibly classic and wearable for the office, and 60’s Pink is high fashion, that ‘Mad Men’ perfect light bright pink best served with a side of perfectly filled in eyebrows and cat lined eyes. Other colors include Pink Pout, Strawberry Sorbet, Royal Orchid, Damask, Fresh Raspberry, Brigitte, Spiced Latte, Cappuccino, Belize, Palm Beach, Maya and Hollywood. From corals to bright red to tangerine pinks, there is a shade for every mood and occasion!

Lip Radiance by Gleam by Melanie Mills

Last but not least is the pink that all skins can wear too, just like Anastasia’s HydaFull glosses, the Lip Radiance shade in Pop My Cork (3rd from the left in the picture) is divine on, a magical pink that works on fair skinned to deeper complected lovelies. Also paraben free, Pop My Cork is a warm baby pink that is a sexy wearable neutral favorite for many celebrities, like Kesha Nichols of Basketball Wives.
