Seth MacFarlane has it all — talent, good looks, a voice, and a sense of humor that has netted him a tidy megafortune.
He also has a huge heart and has been using his celebrity for good, especially for the oceans by backing advocacy organization Oceana.
Now the Family Guy creator has helped the group raise over $1million by appearing as guest of honor at Oceana’s SeaChange Summer Party in Laguna Beach, CA.
The organization helps raise awareness and carries out policy campaigns focused on the oceans and the people and animals that rely on them.
Seth said: “Oceana has won over 100 meaningful victories in this fight, and as an organization that is both globally present and science-based, they represent the essence of what we want more of in our planet’s future.
“The oceans of tomorrow can be healthier, stronger, and more productive than they are today if we all get involved – either financially or in a boots on the ground way, or both – with groups like Oceana.”
Jeff Goldblum and Ted Danson also used their star wattage to make Oceana’s 9th annual SeChange Summer Party a memorable event, raising $1.3million in total.
Goldblum dazzled the audience playing the piano in a jazz number on stage with an orchestra.
Meanwhile, award-winning actor and longtime Oceana Board Member Danson mingled with guests and led the night as Master of Ceremonies.
He said: “If you save the ocean, you can feed the world. Sustainable fishing could yield 1 billion fish meals per day.”
The Office star Angela Kinsey was also at the event, and talked about growing up in Jakarta, Indonesia, and living on the islands by the ocean.
She revealed: “My first love was the ocean, and being in it.”
Other stars at the event included Olympic Swimmer Aaron Peirsol, The Killing Fields star Sam Waterston, All My Children’s Colin Egglesfield, Blade II star Leonor Varela and Army Wives star Sally Pressman.
