Duchess Catherine to visit Grimsby

Britain's Duchess of Cambridge is due to visit Grimsby today (05.03.13) for a series of solo engagements.

Duchess Catherine - who is currently expecting her first child with husband Prince William - will tour a fishing heritage centre, meet fire crews from Humberside Fire and Rescue Service and officially open Havelock Academy secondary school.

Huge crowds are expected to greet the duchess - who was known as Kate Middleton before her marriage to William - when she arrives in the town in North England.

At the National Fishing Heritage Centre, Catherine, 31, will be given a guided tour by a local ex-trawlerman and hear about the environmental sustainability of fishing in the North Sea and the men admit they are a bit nervous.

Former trawlerman John Vincent said: 'I'm just a bit concerned with regards to the smells in the centre, that's my biggest worry.'

After opening Havelock Academy, Catherine will be given a tour of the school and meet a group of A-Level photography students.

Frank Silvester - is a photography student whose work has been put on display at the school for the royal visit - said: 'I'm incredibly excited because my work is being seen by royalty - it's fantastic. The chance of that happening again is incredibly slim.'

Pupils will also perform part of the musical theatre production, 'We Will Rock You', in front of the future queen.

While at Peaks Lane fire station, she will meet unemployed young people taking part in a personal development course run by The Prince's Trust, her father-in-law Prince Charles' charity.
