Prince Charles
Britain's Prince Charles has thanked the people of Ontario in Canada for their support during the Diamond Jubilee.
The Prince of Wales recorded a message for Ontarians at St. James's Palace to mark the end of his mother, Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee celebrations for her 60 years on the throne, and he revealed the monarch was 'deeply touched' by the 'expressions of goodwill' that came from Canada.
In the video uploaded to The Royal Channel - the official YouTube channel of the British monarchy - he said: 'It is my great pleasure to be addressing you at Canada's final celebration at the queen's Diamond Jubilee. I'm only sorry it has to be in this rather disembodied form.
'The past year has seen many unforgettable and moving tributes to the queen's 60 decades of dutiful service.
'Her majesty was deeply touched by the many expressions of goodwill which came from across Canada during this milestone anniversary. The jubilee celebrations, held throughout the commonwealth, were a heartening reminder that the diversity of the commonwealth's global community does not in any way diminish its closeness.'
Charles also admitted he was 'delighted' to have got the opportunity to visit Canada as part of the Diamond Jubilee tour last year with his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.
He added: 'I need hardly say that my wife and I were delighted to be able to visit Ontario during the Diamond Jubilee year, where we were so touched by the warmth and hospitality with which we were greeted.
'We took great pleasure in touring Toronto, both saluting the past with an 1812 military muster at Fort York and looking to the future with a meeting of young digital innovators.'
