Britain's Prince Charles is opening Dumfries House for a Valentine's Day party.

The stately house, in East Ayrshire, Scotland, was partly saved by the prince in 2007, after it was due to be sold at auction for around £25 million.

The prince rallied together a consortium to save the house and its collection of Chippendale furniture for £45million.

Around 40 guests will be able to enjoy what has been described as 'the ultimate in romantic evenings' on February 14 if they book a spot at the home, for £85 a head.

The valentine's party will be entertained in the 18th-century Palladian house's great steward's dining room, which will be 'lavishly dressed for the most romantic evening of the year,' according to a spokesperson for the property.

Guests will also be given a 'light-hearted tour (with a hint of romance!) of the house'.

They are encouraged to 'share the love' with the offer a complimentary bottle of prosecco for two or more couples who book a table together.

While diners will be able to enjoy the romantic atmosphere of the house, it is not thought the prince and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall will attend. However, Charles did dine at the house last week.
