Royal hoax nurse 'attempted suicide before'
Dec 24, 2012, 16:01 GMT

Duchess Catherine
The nurse who killed herself following the royal hoax call apparently attempted suicide twice before.
Jacintha Saldanha - who was found dead earlier this month after she put through a call from Australian DJs, who had impersonated Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles in an attempt to find out information on the pregnant Duchess Catherine at London's King Edward VII hospital - reportedly took an overdose of pills during a family trip to India last year and was rushed to hospital.
And, according to reports in Indian, nine days later the mother-of-two attempted suicide again after jumping from a building.
Jacintha, 46, spent days in intensive care and was put on a course of antidepressants for nine months.
Her brother Naveen Saldanha, 42, said: 'We didn't know about the first incident - but we knew about the second incident.'
Jacintha was found hanged with a scarf at her living quarters at the King Edward VII Hospital in London on December 7 and her funeral took place 10 days later in Shirva, just outside Mangalore on the south-west Indian coast.
