Morrissey blasts royals over nurse death

Morrissey
Morrissey has blamed the British royal family for the apparent suicide of a nurse.
The former Smiths frontman launched a stinging attack on the monarchy, and Duchess Catherine - who was being treated for acute morning sickness at King Edward VII hospital when two Australian DJs called the facility pretending to be Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles - in particular over the death of Jacintha Saldahna, who had transferred a call through to another nurse who gave out details of the duchess' condition.
He told New Zealand's 'Nightline': 'There is no blame placed on Kate Middleton who was in that hospital, as far as I could see, for absolutely no reason. She feels no shame about the death of this woman.
'The arrogance of the British royals is staggering. And why it's allowed to be I really don't know.
'I'm sure the palace and Clarence House put maximum pressure on this poor nurse, of course that's kept away from the press.
'I'm sure the British press hounded this poor woman to her death, that's kept away. And by this time next week she'll be forgotten. And that's how the British royals work.'
The 'Queen is Dead' singer believes Buckingham Palace must receive 'thousands' of prank calls every day and that blaming DJs Mel Greig and Michael Christian is 'just a way of distracting people'.
He added: 'The fact they got so far probably astonished them beyond belief. But the pressure put on the woman who connected the callers was probably so enormous that she took her own life. And we forget about that and of course the royals are exonerated as always.'
Catherine has been suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum but 53-year-old Morrissey questioned whether she even needed medical treatment.
He added: 'Does she have a health condition? Is it anorexia or is it a pregnancy, we don't know. Well what is the health condition, I mean morning sickness already? So much hoo-ha then suddenly [she is] as bright as a button?'
