Royal nurse left a note for family

The deceased nurse at the centre of the royal hoax phone call left a note for her family.

Jacintha Saldanha - who was found dead last week, 48 hours after she put through a call by Australian DJs Michael Christian and Mel Greig, who had impersonated Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles trying to find out information on the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge - had not told her husband or children she was involved with the incident at the King Edward VII Hospital in London, meaning the letter may provide their only clue as to what to what prompted her to apparently take her own life.

A post-mortem examination was held yesterday (11.12.12) on the body of Jacintha but the results are not yet known, and an inquest is due to be opened this week.

Her husband, Benedict Barboza and children Junal, 16, Lisha, 14, are demanding answers from the hospital about the circumstances that led to her death.

Their spokesman, Labour MP Keith Vaz, said: 'What the chairman of the hospital said to me was that there are inquiries going on in the hospital. That is not sufficient for the family. There are unexplained circumstances. The family want to know everything. All the facts, fully and clearly.

'The hospital needs to be more pro-active, a full inquiry is needed and the family need to be included in that. They are a lovely close-knit family, a Catholic family who will be spending their first Christmas without their mother, and for Ben, without his wife.'

Jacintha put through the call from the DJs to one of Duchess Catherine's nurses, who was treating her for acute morning sickness.
