King Juan Carlos
Spain's King Juan Carlos is showing 'very positive' signs of improvement after his recent hip surgery.
The monarch underwent the operation on Friday (23.11.12) at the Madrid Medical Center and according to his health report, he 'is getting up and moving naturally, with the help of two crutches'.
The report - signed by the lead orthopedist treating the king, Angel Villamor, and the chief of the Royal Palace's Medical Service, Miguel Fernandez-Tapia Ruano - said Juan Carlos rested during the night and 'early in the morning he underwent his first treatment and is continuing with the scheduled exercise programme'.
The operation lasted 90 minutes and doctors were able to deal with the deterioration of the left hip joint caused by osteoarthritis by implanting an artificial hip.
This is the third operation in his hip the 74-year-old king has undergone and his sixth overall in the past two-and-a-half years.
Yesterday (25.11.12) had several visitors including Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, wife Queen Sofia, Princess Elena, Princess Cristina Crown Prince Felipe and his wife, Princess Letizia.
