Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to attend rugby match

Britain's Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will watch Wales take on New Zealand at rugby later this month.

The royal couple will kick off their festive engagements by wrapping up warm for the fixture at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, on November 24 and they will not have far to travel as they reside in a cottage in Anglesey, north Wales, for the majority of the year.

Catherine - who was known as Kate Middleton prior to the pair's nuptials - will embark on a solo engagement to attend the opening of London's National History Museum's new Treasures gallery as documentary-maker Sir David Attenborough's guest of honour.

The duchess will be given a special tour of 22 hand-picked extraordinary specimens from the museum's displays - such as 200 million year old ammonites and the famous Archaeopteryx fossil.

Dr Michael Dixon, Director of the Natural History Museum, said: 'We are thrilled Her Royal Highness will join Sir David in helping us celebrate the opening of Treasures.

'We hope that she will be the first of many visitors to discover everything the Museum represents in this special gallery.'

The royal couple will then reunite on December 8 to support Prince William's patronage of homeless charity Centrepoint at the Winter Whites Gala at London's Royal Albert Hall, with big names in the sport world expected to attend including tennis player Boris Becker.

William and Catherine will also show their support for the armed forces at the 2012 British Military Tournament at London's Earl's Court on December 9, and they will round up their busy few weeks at the 65th Royal Film Performance in Leicester Square, where they will watch 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' on December 12.
