Prince Charles
Britain's Prince Charles was the guest of honour at the Pride of Britain Awards last night (29.10.12).
The heir to the throne partied with a host of Olympians and Paralympians at the Daily Mirror's annual awards ceremony and expressed his gratitude to the unsung heroes of the nation.
Charles said: 'I'm proud of the British Spirit at home and around the world.
'You'd be amazed at the number of letters I have had from people abroad and heads of state congratulating people of this country in doing something so remarkable and with such style.
'I am also so proud of Team GB. So let us build on this legacy and remind ourselves for once how special this country is when individuals operate as part of a team and let's just remember how good the British are at organising things.
'In the words of Carly Simon in the song for the Bond film 'The Spy Who Loved Me', which I can never get out of my head: 'Nobody Does it Better'.'
The royal was even persuaded to perform gold-medallist Mo Farah's signature move, the 'Mobot', along with Team GB members - including Bradley Wiggins and Rebecca Adlington - when he joined the athletes on stage.
Celebrities including Gary Barlow, Jon Bon Jovi and Nicole Scherzinger turned up to support some of the nation's heroes, and many stars admitted to expecting an emotional evening.
Judge and former Spice Girl Emma Bunton told the Daily Mirror newspaper: 'It is so hard being a judge because you hear so many brave stories and you have to pick the winners.
'I've brought the tissues because I cry every year. I have read all the stories so I am really excited to meet them tonight.'
