Princess Madeleine
Sweden's Princess Madeleine is engaged.
The royal announced she is to marry British-American banker Christopher O'Neill today (25.10.12), after he proposed to her in New York.
In a video posted on the royal website, recorded at Drottningholm Palace outside Stockholm, she said: 'Chris proposed to me in New York at the start of October, and we are very happy. He has a very big heart and he manages to make everyone in his presence feel good. Christopher is a very thoughtful and generous person.'
He added: 'Madeleine and I have known each other for two years and I recently summoned up the courage to ask her to marry me. Thankfully she said yes.'
Madeleine - youngest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia and Fourth-in-line to the Swedish throne - said the wedding would take place in Sweden in the summer of 2013.
Christopher, who has dual British-American citizenship, also said he had asked the king for permission to marry his daughter, before his proposal.
The couple live in New York where she works for the World Childhood Foundation, a nonprofit organisation founded by Queen Silvia. Christopher is a partner at New York hedge fund Noster Capital.
Princess Madeleine broke off an earlier engagement to Jonas Bergström in 2010, amid rumours he had cheated on her.
