David Walliams
David Walliams is to host this year's 'Royal Variety Performance'.
The 'Little Britain' star has taken over from comedian Peter Kay - who hosted last year's event in Salford, Greater Manchester - to front the ITV production, which will be staged at London's Royal Albert Hall with Britain's Queen Elizabeth watching on from the royal box.
David excitedly took to social networking site twitter this morning (19.10.12) to confirm the news and admits it is the 'biggest gig' of his life.
He wrote: 'I can finally announce that I am hosting the Royal Variety Performance this year. It is the biggest gig of my life.'
The 41-year-old star insists the 'Royal Variety Performance' will be a 'very special show' as the spectacle celebrates its centenary year in the monarch's 60th year on the throne.
He tweeted: 'It is the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and one hundred years of the Royal Variety so it is a very special show this year.'
Robbie Williams, Celine Dion, Kylie Minogue and this year's 'Britain's Got Talent' winners, dancing dog act Ashleigh and Pudsey, have been lined up to perform at the event, which will be recorded on November 19 and screened on TV in early December.
