Prince Harry
Pictures of Britain's Prince Harry naked in Las Vegas gave the city £14 million worth of free publicity.
The 28-year-old royal caused controversy when nude photographs of him playing strip billiards with a bevy of beauties were published online in August, and according a new report issued by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), the incident has given the city a major tourism boost as the images were seen by an estimated 154 million people.
According to US gossip website TMZ, LVCVA Board Chairman Tom Collins told a recent board meeting: 'God bless Prince Harry. He made us a bunch of money.'
The agency is reportedly unsure of exactly how much the scandal boosted profits but officials say there is no doubt it had a positive effect on the city's economy.
After the photographs of Harry were posted online a number of stars spoke out in his defence, and boy band One Direction recently appeared to pay tribute to his naked antics by taking to the stage at the Radio 1 Teen Awards in London on Sunday (07.10.12) with a cardboard cut-out of the prince holding a glass.
Harry, an Apache helicopter co-pilot, is currently in Afghanistan after being deployed for a four-month stint based at Camp Bastian in Helmand province, and as a result he was forced to miss out on the funeral of his and Prince William's former nanny Olga Powell yesterday (10.10.12), which his brother attended.
