Daniel Craig's 'grumpy' Queen spoof

Daniel Craig was 'grumpy' when he had to film a spoof with Britain's Queen Elizabeth.

The 44-year-old actor pre-recorded a short film with the 86-year-old monarch to be played during the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony, and while he admits she was 'fun' and 'incredibly game' to shoot the clip, he wasn't in such a good mood because it was his day off from filming new James Bond movie 'Skyfall'.

He said: 'She was fun, incredibly game. We had a short space of time and I was a bit grumpy as it was my day off and suddenly I am at the Palace with the queen at her private chamber.

'And she improvises a little bit. She was supposed to be sitting at the desk and she asked if she could write, so she pretended to write.'

The spoof saw Daniel in character as Bond, who arrived at Buckingham Palace in an iconic black cab and entered a room to be greeted by the queen with the words, 'Good evening Mr. Bond,' to which he replied: 'Good evening Your Majesty'.

The clip concludes with both Daniel and the royal appearing to parachute out of a helicopter over the Olympic Stadium in London's Stratford, East London, which many viewers found amusing - but the British actor says the short film was never intended to be comical.

He added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: 'It wasn't supposed to be funny. It was supposed to be serious.
