Prince William to visit North East England
Oct 2, 2012, 11:02 GMT

Prince William and Duchess Catherine
Britain's Prince William and Duchess Catherine will visit England's North East next week.
The royal couple will make one of their first public appearances together in their home nation since topless pictures of Catherine were published in a French magazine last month when they visit the region on Wednesday (10.10.12), where they will take in Teesside and Tyneside.
First on the royal couple's agenda will be a trip to the Newcastle Civic Centre to meet a group of people who helped bring the London 2012 Olympics to the city - which played host to football matches at Newcastle United's St James' Park stadium - before meeting volunteers who help welcome visitors to the city.
William and Catherine - who was known as Kate Middleton prior to the pair's nuptials - will also meet pupils at the Percy Hedley School, which caters for children with cerebral palsy and other motor disorders.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will meet community groups and school kids in Gateshead and take in Keyfund at Gateshead Youth Council, one of the charities which has benefited from the couple's Royal Wedding Charitable Gift Fund.
To conclude their visit to the North, William and Catherine will visit the CRI Stockton Recovery Service, which offers a support service for drug users over the age of 18.
The duke and duchess will then meet families involved in charity Action on Addiction's - which the duchess became a patron of in January - and see the work the aid organisation does with children living with parents who are drug users.
