Britain's Sarah Ferguson has expressed 'total sympathy' for Duchess Catherine.

The Duchess of York has issued words of support for the brunette royal after topless pictures of the Duchess of Cambridge - who is currently on a tour of Asia with husband Prince William as part of Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee celebrations - were published in a French magazine.

She said: 'I have total empathy and sympathy for her. I have been there and know what it's like. Everyone is entitled to privacy. It is a devastating invasion of one's personal inner space. It is deplorable, abhorrent and despicable.

'She is a beautiful young woman doing a great job for the country. Why should she be stripped of that moment with her husband?'

Royal lawyers are expected to seek a court injunction to prevent further publication of the images at a hearing in France this afternoon (17.09.12), with the case expected to be held in public.

Despite the furore over the topless pictures of Catherine, the royal couple are said to be determined to enjoy their time in Asia and came face-to-face with a group of traditional topless performers in the Solomon Islands' province of Choiseul today.

William and Catherine - who was known as Kate Middleton prior to the couple's nuptials - seemed unfazed when introduced to the South Pacific women, whose exposed breasts are part of normal life in the region.

The female locals - who use a few banana leaves to create a makeshift top - chatted to the duke and duchess before performing a dance with men from their region.
