Princess Isabella wears traditional gold bracelet
Aug 23, 2012, 12:01 GMT

Queen Margrethe of Denmark
Denmark's Princess Isabella has been given her family's traditional gold bracelet.
The five-year-old has been pictured with the band around her wrist, a traditional piece of jewellery given to all of the ladies in the family on their fifth birthday.
Isabella will have received the bracelet on her birthday in April, and has been seen wearing it at the Olympic Games with her parents, Crown Prince Frederik and his wife Mary.
The custom of the bracelet dates back to Isabella's great-grandmother, Queen Ingrid - who had a gold bracelet given to her for her fifth birthday in 1915.
Sadly her mother died when she was just 10, but she vowed to continue the bracelet's legacy through the generations. Queen Margrethe wears her bracelet and has given them to her granddaughters on their fifth birthdays.
She is also expected to continue the tradition with Isabella's younger sister Josephine, and her cousin Athena, daughter of Prince Joachim and Princess Marie.
