Princess Diana
Princess Diana's former lover turned down the chance to work on Naomi Watts' new movie about the final years of the royal's life.
Dr Hasnat Khan was approached by producers who asked him to take on the role of script consultant on the multi-million dollar production but the loyal medic - who had a two-year relationship with Diana ending just months before her August 1997 death - wants to preserve his and Diana's privacy.
A source told the Daily Express newspaper: 'Hasnat was approached as it was obviously felt he could offer a true and unique insight into their life together. The aim is to make the film as accurate as possible but Hasnat clearly didn't think it would be right for him to be involved. It's inevitably a difficult subject for him emotionally. Hopefully he'll feel the film still does their remarkable relationship justice.'
Star Naomi - who like Diana has two sons - has previously admitted she is worried that Princes William and Harry will be hurt by the movie.
She said: 'We're not trying to destroy any memory. We're trying to show her in the best possible light as a human being, though, full of different layers. It's a story that should be told. A piece of history. But it's tricky because they are here, the boys. I think about that a lot.'
