Prince Johan Friso
The Dutch royal family have updated their website to include a mention of Prince Johan Friso's accident.
The prince has been in a coma ever since he was trapped under the snow for 15 minutes while skiing off piste in Austria in February but the official website has only just been changed to reflect his tragic situation.
According to examiner.com, the message reads: 'On February 17, 2012, Prince Friso was the victim of an avalanche in the ski resort of Lech, Austria. After treatment in the intensive care unit of the Innsbruck State Hospital in early March, the Prince was transferred to London for further treatment and care in the Wellington hospital. There resides the prince ever since.'
It also added that his wife Princess Mabel has stepped down as CEO of The Elders, a group of individuals convened by Nelson Mandela to use their wisdom, independent leadership and experience to tackle some of the world's toughest problems, because of her husband's situation.
The statement said: 'Given the health of Prince Friso, in May 2012 Princess Mabel stepped down as CEO. The princess is now a part-time Senior Advisor to The Elders and Girls Not Brides.'
