Zara Phillips competing
Britain's Zara Phillips won a silver medal at the London Olympics yesterday (31.07.12).
The 31-year-old royal - Queen Elizabeth's eldest granddaughter - helped Team GB finish second to Germany in the three-day eventing competition, and she was thrilled with he result.
Zara - who clattered into a fence during yesterday's showjumping section of the event - said: 'We wanted the gold but to get an Olympic medal is incredible anyway. We've had an amazing week, it's been a great, unreal competition and when you get one of these put round your neck you realise everything was worth it.
'Last year I didn't even think I was going to be here. We had the greatest team this week, an awesome team.'
Zara - who was joined on the team by Nicola Wilson Kristina Cook, Mary King and William Fox-Pitt - was presented with her silver medal by her mother, Princess Anne, the only other member of the royal family to compete in an Olympic Games.
Zara - who was riding her horse High Kingdom throughout the three days - was cheered on by many members of the royal family, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry, the Duchess of Cornwall and her husband Mike Tindall.
However, she didn't want to be asked questions about her famous family, telling one reporter: 'Are we going to talk about my family the whole time? Everyone else's family is here too.'
