Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel
Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria has cancelled her trip to the Olympic Games in London.
The 35-year-old royal was due to visit the British capital with her brother Prince Carl-Phillip and husband Prince Daniel, but has decided to stay at home with her five-month-old daughter Princess Estelle instead.
Swedish royal family spokesperson Bertil Ternert said: 'She has chosen to prioritise Princess Estelle, the trip would have been too tough to make with such a small child. It is the case with all families with small children.'
Daniel and Carl-Phillip will still be visiting the UK from Monday (06.08.12).
The Swedish royal family have a long history of involvement in the Olympics, and it was at the 1972 games in Munich, Germany, where current reining King Carl met his now wife Queen Sylvia, known then as Sylvia Sommarlath.
So far Sweden has failed to gain any medals in the London Olympics, and at the Beijing Games in 2008 the country only managed to rank 55th overall with five medals, but they missed out on a gold medal.
