Duke and Duchess of Cambridge
Britain's Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are set to visit Cambridge.
Prince William and Duchess Catherine - who were given their Cambridge titles last year following their wedding - will make an appearance in the East Anglican city 'in the not too distant future'.
The city's mayor, Sheila Stuart, told Cambridge-news.co.uk: 'This is very exciting news. I sent congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the joyous occasion of their marriage, and at that time also extended them a very warm welcome to visit Cambridge.
'Judging from the celebrations all around Cambridge last year when they married, they can be assured of a rousing welcome whenever they visit.
'I sincerely hope we can look forward to that very soon.'
Cambridge MP Julian Huppert added: 'I am sure there will be many residents who would be delighted if the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were to visit the city, especially as it has featured in their royal titles for more than a year.
'I believe that if they want to carry the city's name they should visit and find out more about it and meet the people.'
So far William and Catherine - who is also known by her maiden name of Kate Middleton - have been unable to visit Cambridge because of their busy schedules.
