Pippa Middleton's friend blasts her detractors

Pippa Middleton's friend has blasted people for being 'mean' to her.

The younger sister of Britain's Duchess of Cambridge was involved in an incident in France in April where one of her companions in a car pointed a realistic looking toy gun at photographers but her pal Arthur de Soultrait, who was with her at the time, has lashed out at people for blaming Pippa.

Arthur - who was hosting the fancy dress party which Pippa was in Paris to attend - told the Daily Mail: 'It wasn't very nice for her [Pippa] - she wasn't involved at all. I'm sad for her because everyone has been extremely mean.

'It's sad and stupid. It was just a very fun party for my 30th, it wasn't crazy at all. It was just very good fun.'

Arthur previously defended Pippa and said he regretted that she had become the 'subject' of the scandal.

He explained in a statement: 'I was in a car with Philippa Middleton, and we were being followed by paparazzi.

'She had been subject to constant and dangerous harassment by paparazzi throughout her time in Paris. The car was being driven by a friend of mine, whom Pippa had only met a few hours before. As a joke, my friend brandished a toy pistol in their direction.

'I regret enormously that this incident happened, and especially that Pippa has been subject.'

Arthur insists Pippa had 'no idea' that her friend was going to brandish the toy gun and says 'she did not find it funny'.

He added: 'Obviously Philippa had no idea that he was going to do that and told him to stop immediately. She did not find it funny.'
