Britain's Prince Charles thinks he dresses like a 'stopped clock'.

The 63-year-old royal - who was named one of the world's most stylish men by GQ magazine this year alongside Ewan McGregor, Damian Lewis and Benedict Cumberbatch - joked he is only in fashion 'once every 25 years' as he launched the three-day fashion event 'London Collections: Men' at St James's Palace last night (14.06.12).

Charles - who turns 64 in November - told the audience: 'I'm finding it very hard to live with myself, ladies and gentlemen. Because someone suggested that I might be an icon of fashion. After 64 bleeding years. I don't know why.

'I have lurched from being the best-dressed man to being the worst dressed man.

'I don't know why - presumably it sells publications. Meanwhile I have gone on, like a stopped clock - and my time comes around every 25 years.'

Other attendees included Dame Vivienne Westwood, Tommy Hilfiger, Tom Ford, Oliver Spencer, singer Tinie Tempah and TV star David Walliams, who joked that the heir to the throne told him he usually wears clothes from low-cost retailers Primark and George at Asda.

He quipped: 'I asked Charles what he wears. He said mostly Primark, but George at Asda too: he likes to mix it up.'

London Collections: Men is being organised by the British Fashion Council and is coordinated by a committee featuring Sir Elton John's partner David Furnish, US designer Tom Ford and GQ magazine editor Dylan Jones.
