Duchess Catherine's fashion 'effect' slammed
Mar 22, 2012, 13:01 GMT

Duchess Catherine
Britain's Duchess of Cambridge's style has been criticised by designer Pam Hogg.
The eccentric sartorialist - who has dressed the likes of Rihanna and Lady Gaga - claims she has seen no benefit from the 'Middleton effect', where the duchess - formerly Kate Middleton - wears an outfit and it immediately sells out, and thinks those who want to dress like her are 'sheep'.
She told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: 'What is the Middleton effect? Is that everyone wanting to dress like her? Everyone has always wanted to dress the same as each other - they are like sheep.
'I make clothes for me, not for the masses. Maybe her effect has helped other designers, but it hasn't had any effect on me.'
Pam Hogg is not the only fashion designer to hit out at Duchess Catherine for her clothing efforts - Dame Vivienne Westwood has also claimed she is not a fan of her style.
She said: 'I think she's got a problem with eye make-up. The sharp line around her eyes make her look hard. Either she should be smudgy or wear none.
'It seems to me, that her image is 'ordinary woman'. Therefore, High Street shopper. And I just think she should be an extraordinary woman, wherever she gets her clothes from.'
