Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria has given birth to a baby girl.
The 34-year-old royal and her husband Prince Daniel welcomed their daughter into the world at the Karolinska University Hospital in Solna, Stockholm, at 4.26am this morning (23.02.12).
Daniel said the baby was 20 inches long and weighed 7lb 2oz.
He added: 'When I left the room the little princess was sleeping on her mother's chest and they were looking very cosy.
'The little daughter and the crown princess are doing very well.'
The prince admitted he was 'pretty nervous' during the birth and had cut the baby's umbilical cord.
He also said the new arrival's name will be announced later this week.
Victoria and Daniel - the princess' former personal trainer - married in June 2010.
The baby is the first grandchild for the current Swedish monarchs King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia, and will be second-in-line to the throne after Victoria.
Despite being heavily pregnant, Victoria was carrying out official engagements as late as Tuesday (21.02.12).
She joined family members at a luncheon with President Tarja Halonen in Stockholm, and was presented with a gift by the president.
The president explained she had bought 'Some eating utensils for the coming child, and for the parents and grandparents, something that they can drink coffee from.'
