Duchess Catherine receiving a Valentine\'s Day card from Jaqson Johnston-Lynch
The Duchess of Cambridge was given a Valentine's card and a bunch of roses by an eight-year-old boy when she visited Liverpool yesterday (14.02.12).
Catherine went to Alder Hey Children's Hospital and Action on Addiction project, the non-alcoholic Brink bar for recovering alcoholics, on Valentine's Day without her husband Prince William - who is on a six-week tour of duty in the Falklands in his role as an RAF search and rescue pilot.
At The Brink bar she was given the flowers and the card by Jaqson Johnston-Lynch - the son of Jacquie Johnston-Lynch, the head of service for the charity Action on Addiction in Liverpool - and was thrilled with her gifts.
Jaqson revealed he wrote 'Dear Kate, Happy Valentine's Day, I love you, from Jaqson' in her card.
During her visit to The Brink, the beautiful royal also met staff and community leaders and heard a performance of traditional Native American Indian song 'Wings of a Dove' by the Raucous Caucus Recovery Chorus, which is comprised of recovering addicts.
Catherine was also treated to a fruit smoothie named 'The Duchess' in her honour at The Brink and revealed to her server Paula Carey, 37, that she got a nice gift from William for Valentine's Day.
Paula - who created the special drink from almonds, skimmed milk, honey, banana and a dash of cream - told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: 'I said, 'Can I just ask you one question? Did you get anything nice for Valentine's Day?'
'She said, 'Yes I did thank you.'
'Because I was making the smoothie I didn't hear what she said she got.'
At Alder Hey Children's Hospital she was due to be introduced to seven-year-old Aimee Haswell - who was diagnosed with a rare type of congenital heart disease, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, when she was just nine days old.
Aimee's mother Lisa said: 'Aimee is a miracle! We call her our little star and when we received the phone call on Tuesday (14.02.12) to say she had been nominated to greet the duchess, words cannot describe our feelings.'
