Prince William
Britain's Prince William says the protection of 2,012 playing fields in the UK is a lasting tribute to his grandmother.
The future king is thrilled with the decision to protect outside space so children all over the country can use it and thinks it's a great way to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee this year.
Speaking in a video posted on qe2fields.com, he said: 'Green space and playing fields are the beating heart of any community.
'2,012 playing fields across the UK are protected by the year 2012. The year 2012 marks the year of the queen's Diamond Jubilee and I cannot think of a better tribute to my grandmother's 60 glorious years on the throne than to dedicate to the queen this programme that will save playing fields for future generations.
'The newly protected fields will be called the Queen Elizabeth II fields and in Scotland, the Queen Elizabeth fields. The fields will form a lasting legacy of the queen's Diamond Jubilee.'
William also says he hopes the fields will remind people of how dedicated his grandmother has been to the country throughout her reign.
He said: 'On a personal note, I hope these fields will become a living reminder to all of the queen's steadfast duty, dedication and love for this country.'
