Duchess Catherine to become cricket patron?

Duchess Catherine
England cricket bosses want Duchess Catherine to become the face of the sport.
The royal - who recently announced her first four patronages - could become the first-ever patron of the England and Wales Cricket Board if she agrees to the role and although no formal request has yet been made, the board are considering an approach.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: 'There isn't a patron at the moment and it is a position the ECB is keen to create. The Duchess of Cambridge would make the ideal patron for the game because she is young, vibrant and a role model to millions.'
If she does take on the role, Catherine will follow in the footsteps of her husband Prince William who is president of the Football Association and vice-patron of the Rugby Football Union while William's aunt Princess Anne is the patron of the Scottish Rugby Union.
Catherine's spokesman said: 'As yet there has been no formal request from the ECB for the Duchess to consider.'
The Duchess of Cambridge is already patron of Action on Addiction, the National Portrait Gallery, East Anglia's Children's Hospices and The Art Room. She is also a volunteer with the Scout Association.
