Prince Harry pulls out of Everest trek

Prince Harry
Prince Harry has pulled out of a charity Mount Everest trek due to his military commitments.
Although the British royal would not have had time to complete the expedition, he had planned to join wounded servicemen for part of their upcoming attempt at scaling the mountain by trekking to base camp but his diary has now made the feat impossible.
His spokesperson told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: 'He won't be going to the Himalayas because of his military commitments. Naturally he is very disappointed that he won't be able to join the Walking With The Wounded team.'
The conditions on the world's highest mountain mean March and May are regarded as the optimal months for climbing and Harry's commitments, which will see him travel to the Caribbean and Brazil on his first solo royal tour before returning to his military duties, makes this time frame impossible for him.
Harry has previously joined the team on a charity trek to the Arctic last year and called them 'inspirational'.
He said: 'I think for me, personally, I'm hugely proud to be a British soldier, to walk alongside these guys. What these guys have done -- and what they will continue to do throughout their lives -- is just truly inspirational.'
