Princess Anne opens brain injury centre
May 19, 2010, 12:02 GMT
Britain's Princess Anne opened a centre for people with brain injuries yesterday (18.05.10).
The princess officially opened Graham Anderson House in Glasgow, the first rehabilitation centre to be built in Scotland for patients with head injuries by The Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust.
The 25-bed rehabilitation centre will offer intensive treatment to patients aged between 18 and 65 with severe cognitive, physical or emotional problems following a brain injury.
The new unit has been designed to help people regain lost skills and recover their independence, and has also created around 100 new jobs.
Carol Dale, service manager at Graham Anderson House, told the BBC: "I am so pleased that we are now able to respond to the real need for specialised brain injury rehabilitation in Scotland.
"My staff and I are excited at the challenge ahead of matching this high quality building with the best possible rehabilitation and support that will help people with an acquired brain injury to rebuild their lives".
