Prince Charles grants granny wish
May 12, 2010, 12:31 GMT
Britain's Prince Charles granted a 105-year-old woman her birthday wish.
The prince - who was presenting honours at the Royal College of Music's annual awards ceremony last night (11.05.10) - made a pensioners life dream come true when he met with 105-year-old May Brinckley, in an introduction arranged by the Chairwoman of the Age Concern centre that she attends.
Chairwoman Mrs. Mallinson - who has known May for a number of years - said: "May said 'all my life I've wanted to meet a member of the royal Family and now I have met the prince'.
"The prince wished her a happy birthday and when we told him May had worked in a printer's near Regent Street that printed racing cards and betting slips he replied 'my grandmother might have used that'."
She added: "May was thrilled to bits and in the car journey back from the college she said it was marvellous."
The prince was in South Kensington, London, presenting honours as members of the royal family traditionally do, and said he was happy to meet the royal enthusiast.
