Princess Aiko's online threats
May 12, 2010, 12:29 GMT
Police in Japan arrested a man for posting threats to the country's eight-year-old Princess Aiko.
Princess Aiko - the daughter of crown prince Naruhito - was threatened with having "her head smashed with a hammer" by 26-year-old Kengo Ezaka.
A police spokesperson claimed the threat had led local police to make high security preparations, disrupting normal business.
He said: "He forced members of the Akasaka police station to be on high alert and made it difficult for them to carry out normal operations."
Mr. Ezaka is reported to have told police he only posted the threat to see if he could get a reaction out of other internet users and did not believe he would get arrested.
The crown prince's family have been front-page news in Japan in recent years.
Late last year Princess Masako said she would keep on working to solve her long-term stress problems.
She said: "I would like to continue my efforts to recover, with the help of people around me.
"Under the guidance of my doctor, I have been doing my best, step by step, to regain my health, mentally and physically."
