Prince Charles attends memorial
May 11, 2010, 12:29 GMT
Britain's Prince Charles met mourning parents at a memorial service yesterday (10.05.10).
The service - which was held at Westminster Cathedral on the second anniversary of schoolboy Jimmy Mizen's murder - was also attended by Kate McCann, the mother of missing child Madeline McCann.
Speaking during the service, Jimmy's mother Margaret said: "To all the mothers, take your babies and your children in your arms every day and tell them how much you love them."
Mrs. Mizen urged those in attendance, including hundreds of relatives, school children, police and members of the public, that there needed to be change so that these horrific tragedies could be prevented.
She added: "Building a legacy of peace involves change in all of us. Each of us has to be part of this legacy."
Family members of murdered teenagers Ben Kinsella, Rob Knox and Damilola Taylor were also at the memorial.
They all met Prince Charles at a private reception after the service, as did the Mizen family and Kate McCann - who was personally invited by the Mizen family.
Jimmy Mizen was killed by Jake Fahri when he stabbed him in the neck with a broken bottle in May 2008, the day after his 16th birthday.
As a result of the horrific events, the Mitzen family set up a foundation in Jimmy's memory to prevent youth violence.
