King Juan Carlos recovering in hospital
May 10, 2010, 13:26 GMT
Spain's King Juan Carlos is "doing very well" following surgery at the weekend.
The 72-year-old king - who had a benign tumour removed from his right lung on Saturday (08.05.10) after it was discovered a month ago - is reportedly recovering well in hospital and has been able to get out of bed.
Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said: "He is doing very well. The operation went very well and the prognosis is very good."
The king is said to have told Prince Felipe - who visited his father yesterday (09.05.10) - that he was "in one piece and in good shape."
A representative for the king said doctors at the hospital were now working to "extract and study" the growth.
It is thought the monarch will released from hospital by the end of the week.
