Queen Margrethe's gala dinner
Apr 28, 2010, 13:02 GMT
The Danish royal family held a gala dinner in honour of the visiting Russian president, Dmitry Medvedev yesterday (27.04.10).
The premiere, together with his wife Sevtlana Medvedeva, was personally invited on the state visit by Queen Margrethe II.
They received a royal welcome to the country as they arrived in Copenhagen, with the queen present at the ceremony.
The presidential couple then later had a glamorous white tie gala dinner, given by the queen at Fredenborg Palace, the summer royal residence.
Dmitry is attending a Danish-Russian business seminar today (28.04.10), and will then have talks with the country's Prime Minister, Lars Lekke Rasmussen.
Later this evening, Dmitry will host a reception for Queen Margrethe which will include a performance by leading Russian ballet dancers.
The visit is designed to help improve relations between the two nations, which suffered setbacks eight years ago when Danish courts refused to extradite a leading Chechen rebel to Russia, leading then President Vladimir Putin to cancel a planned state visit to Denmark.
