Queen Elizabeth returns to Wales
Apr 28, 2010, 12:59 GMT
Britain's Queen Elizabeth returned to a Welsh town for the first time in 35 years yesterday (27.04.10).
The 84-year-old monarch travelled to Caernarfon in North Wales with her husband Prince Philip, and almost stepped back in time when she visited the castle where her son became the Prince of Wales in 1969.
Elizabeth also recreated the famous image of Charles' big day when she stepped onto the Queen's Gate balcony to pose for photographs in front of the crowds below.
The royal couple - who were accompanied by Caernarfon mayor Hywel Roberts - spent a few moments at the top of the castle looking at the view across the town to Snowdonia.
Local resident, Mr. Williams, said meeting the royals was a dream come true.
He told the Daily Post newspaper: "I am a royalist and I've met Prince Charles several times but never the queen. It was an ambition I never thought would come to fruition."
